We are incredibly honoured to have Southport Flying Club formally recognised in
Federal Parliament by the Honourable Cameron Caldwell, Member for Division of Fadden.
In the Federation Chamber, Mr Caldwell paid tribute to the Club’s contribution to the northern Gold Coast community, acknowledging the leadership of President Craig Hobart, Secretary Adam Surplice, Treasurer Sean Llewellyn and the broader committee, and highlighting the vital role our members play both in aviation and in community service.
His remarks recognised:
Our partnership with Angel Flight Australia to establish an official Gold Coast base, improving patient access to hospital care.
The essential infrastructure we provide for emergency services, including support for Polair and regional rescue helicopter operations.
Our Veterans Day event, where around 60 local veterans were provided complimentary flights as a gesture of gratitude and respect.
Our participation in Remembrance Day commemorations at Runaway Bay.
Southport Flying Club has always aimed to be more than just a place to base aircraft. We are proud to be a community asset — supporting emergency response capability, assisting those in need of medical transport, honouring our veterans, and promoting safe, responsible aviation on the Gold Coast.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mr Caldwell for shining a light on the work being done by our volunteers and members. It is a privilege to serve our community through aviation.
